Next tourist trip will wait until autumn

I had a plan, three places we’d visit in Turku.  My plan failed in part.  We are not city people and became frustrated by the lack of parking.  Did get to see Turku Castle, enjoy the pictures.

How about these “fireplaces”

Big doll house, every little girl needs one

Didn’t want to get on the wrong side of the law!

Woodworking was a true art.

Then we hunted for a place to eat, in town but no place to park.  Found a nice little place outside a ways and decided that cities are just not our thing. Headed up the road towards home, stopping at a few nice spots and did remember to take two pictures.

Hope you are all well and enjoying your summer.

Catch of the day

Went out on the boat for a quick trip before the rain set in.  With Sophie leading the way we found a nice spot out of the wind.

First fish was tossed back, too small.  Figured whatever I caught Larry was going to reject.

Got the second one and there was talk about this being my last fishing trip. But soon after he snagged one bigger than mine and all was well with the world.

First fish caught but not the first thing we caught while out with the boat.  First catch was BIG!

The Rauma Archipelago

Went for a tour of the waterways around the city of Rauma with Pekka (my cousin’s son), Larry and Sophie.  First we had to stop and have coffee, Sophie wasn’t interested, no sausage involved.

The lighthouse is a lookout, hotel and restaurant all rolled into one.  I climbed up, the youngsters stayed by the water.

A family of swans seem very comfortable with the boat traffic.
Pekka and Larry tried their hand at fishing. Not a clue what we’d have done if they caught something.

The ride back from the island was beautiful.  Many of us looking like tomatoes at the end of this very sunny day.

Fancy house, never did figure out what it was.  Maybe a restaurant?

Tomorrow we start carrying firewood into storage.  Today was fun, tomorrow maybe not so much.

On Kokemäenjoki

Finally got the boat on the water.  Here are a few pictures from today’s adventure. A man, his dog and his boat.

Summertime

Once again I’m unable to post the video, look for it in the comments on Facebook.

While smoked ham might not be a summer staple, what better time to run the grill?

Larry got his boat!  Soon we’ll be eating a lot of fish.

Pizza was full of fridge leftovers, olives, hamburger, blue cheese...whatever came to mind

Spring has sprung

What happens at your house when the weather warms up?  Warm enough here to start the hoodie hunt.  You know, go out in the morning with it on and then hunt it down later in the evening when it cools off.  Am hoping for weather warm enough to start the shoe hunt.

All the other flowers turned out toward the sun.  Thinking it might be spying on us.

This is not a smudge on the window, it’s a bug.  They have almost transparent wings with a greenish tint to them.  Little stinkers seem to be able to get in through the smallest spaces.

And yet another sign of spring is DR. PEPPER!

Hope your days are everything you want them to be.

More non-sense

Saturday we became the proud owners of a third car.  Needed a hitch to be able to pull the boat and trailer we don’t have. Can’t get either without the hitch. 😝

If the video doesn’t show up I’ll put it in comments.

Allergies bugging us off and on so we stopped by the pharmacy for some relief.  Other than the price was pleasantly surprised to see/feel Braille on the package.  Not something I’ve ever noticed in the states.

Then some advertising

Just doesn’t make sense

Hoping the video shows up, if not just let me know and I’ll put it into comments.

Lard making pictures first.

Little worried about the stovetop surviving the weight of this but seems to be doing OK.

Next load going in the oven.

Now some pretty flowers popped up at the park.

Hope you’re all well and enjoying Spring.

Driving down the road

A few interesting sights we’ve seen while driving down the road.

First a few from Huittinen.

No idea what this is about.

A lion guards the playground.

This naked woman seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere.

Risto Ryti president from 1940 to 1944.

Once again, no clue.

The next group are down a road between Kokemäki and Harjavalta.  Judging from the numbers on them I’m betting they were birthday gifts.
